  6. The eye not being measured should be occluded with the occluder on the headrest.

Pull the instrument back away from the patient and position it in front of the eye to measure using the joystick.  The patient is asked to fixate the convex mirror where they should see the mire pattern focused at infinity. Do a finer alignment by using the sighting devices next to the body of the instrument.
